What an exceptional design!

“Montauk Downs offers plenty variety and risk-reward”

THE HIDDEN GEM OF NEW YORK GOLF

Montauk Downs was originally developed in 1927. Robert Trent Jones Sr. redesigned the present course in 1968 with assistance from his son, Rees.”

Montauk Downs State Park was purchased by State Parks in 1980. The ever-changing wind currents off the ocean and bay can change the way the course plays each day.

The park is best known for its Robert Trent Jones-designed, championship-length, 18-hole Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course. In addition, the park offers a driving range, six championship tennis courts, a main swimming pool and a wading pool for children, as well as a beautiful catering facility, a clubhouse and a grill room serving breakfast and lunch.

“Montauk Downs offers plenty variety and risk-reward in comparison to the common municipal course. It’s location and views add to the fun of playing the course.”

“A great golf course at an amazing price if you are a NY State Resident. At 7,000 yards from the back this course plays much longer with multiple mid size par 4s stretching up hill and usually into the wind.”

“I have played here many times over the years and the place never disappoints. To answer the question I am sure many are asking themselves…. Yes, it is absolutely worth the ride out.”
